Solaris HealthCare Daytona Captures Vohra Wound Certification

Vohra Physician Dr. Kristin Wulff, MD started making wound rounds at Solaris HealthCare Daytona more than 4 years ago. Dr. Wulff and the facility wound team have forged a tight partnership ever since. As a result, Solaris HealthCare has now been certified as a Vohra Center of Excellence for Wound Management.

Director of Nursing Stacey Arzuaga says it an honor to be recognized by Vohra Wound Physicians. “It has taken a focused effort from our interdisciplinary team to raise the bar for wound care and prevention here at our facility,” Arzuaga said.

Dr. Wulff credits the successful wound healing outcomes to the teamwork from all those involved in caring for residents with wounds. “Solaris HealthCare Daytona is a uniquely tight knit family of caregivers who work diligently towards optimizing patient care,” Wulff said. “The wound care team has evolved greatly over the years and works in coordination with the therapy department to heal wounds faster and safer. It is a privilege to work with them as a Vohra Wound Physician and I wish them continued success as a Center of Excellence.”

Administrator Ross Baird says the facility really steps up to take in residents with acute wounds because it has the team in place to provide superior results. “It is a true testament of our team at Solaris HealthCare Daytona to not only accept the responsibility for such severely compromised residents, but also to prioritize the highest quality of wound management partnered with compassionate care,” Baird said. “We can boast several success stories involving residents admitted with wounds that ultimately heal and get resolved. The collaboration between Solaris Daytona and Vohra Wound Physicians is our strength. Where there is teamwork between our interdisciplinary care team and Dr. Wulff’s expertise, extraordinary healing can be achieved. I could not be more proud of this group’s contributing efforts!”

To qualify for the certification, Solaris HealthCare Daytona achieved a less than 1% wound-related hospitalization rate for the last year. In addition, Dr. Wulff leads weekly wound rounds at the facility and the team regularly reviews patient progress reports.

Arzuaga said, “We take great pride in knowing that all disciplines have collaborated to ensure an excellent standard of care is provided to our residents, and that Vohra Wound Physicians has recognized this achievement. We look forward to continued collaboration and positive resident outcomes through our partnership with Vohra.”
